ZSL (Zoological Society of London) has been building stronger connections to wildlife for 200 years. Established in 1826 for the advancement of zoological science, it opened its first ‘Zoological Gardens’ to the public in Regent’s Park, London in 1828. These gardens are now known as the world famous London Zoo.

ZSL also has one of the largest archives of original animal artworks in the UK.

Today, ZSL is a global science-driven conservation charity working to restore wildlife in the UK and around the world by protecting critical species, restoring healthy habitats, training conservationists and creating change for nature. Through our Zoos, our conservation work in the field and through the Institute of Zoology, a centre of research excellence, we are passionate advocates for nature and won’t stop until we have created a world where wildlife thrives.’
