Linda Hoskins Profile Picture

As far back as I can remember I have always loved to paint and draw, and still do it’s a rare day when I don’t put pencil to paper and I know how extremely lucky I am to be making a living doing something I love, even though there is much less glitter and glue involved these days. I grew up in a small village in rural Northamptonshire that is where I found my love of the countryside, we were an outdoorsy family, always on the ramble what dad didn’t know about flora and fauna really wasn’t worth knowing. I miss that. I was a late starter to ‘Art School’ only graduating from college as recently as last year at the ripe old age of fifty something, one of my finest achievements to date – such a fabulous experience! So much fun was had and so many tears were cried, all mine but that’s another book. I now live on the Northeast coast of Scotland and my forever home. Spending my time painting and drawing the world around me in my own distinctive style where colour, shape and quirky know no bounds and where I don’t have to travel far for inspiration. I can be up to my knees in a watery rock pool one minute and perched in the hedgerow with my sketchbook the next – although It Is Scotland, so I always carry a cosy jumper and my big coat. My artwork is sold locally in Angus and thanks to my Etsy shop, also worldwide. My colourful wildlife paintings are transformed into ceramic tiles, coasters, greetings cards, hanging decorations, stationery and homewares and now thanks to Bothy Threads I can add embroidery and tapestry to that list. I am very excited to have been given this opportunity, and I hope you enjoy my work.
