Delivery & Returns

Delivery Information

We make every effort to ensure that all orders placed before 2.00pm are sent out the same day (excluding trade orders).

All orders are sent by First Class Royal Mail and delivery time can depend on where you are in the world!

We try to make sure all orders in the UK are delivered within 3-5 days and orders outside of the UK are within 5-7 weeks (please see Royal Mail update below).

ROYAL MAIL DISRUPTION - February 2023 (ongoing)

Due to ongoing disruption at Royal Mail following a large cyber attack on their International Shipping, orders which have been dispatched since the 1st January to all regions outside of the UK, will be delayed a further 4 to 5 weeks on top of the usual 5 to 7 weeks delivery time. They have a large backlog of parcels which they are working through as quickly as they can but this is going to take some time. We will not be able to process refunds until after 12 weeks has passed from the order date for all international deliveries.

If your order does not arrive within this time please contact us at and let us know. Please note, delivery times are taking longer at the moment due to staff shortages and Covid related issues at most of our delivery partners. This may delay your delivery by up to a week.

Our delivery charges are as follows (excluding trade orders):

  • Delivery to the UK: £4.00 per order
  • Delivery to Europe: £5.00 per order
  • Delivery to the rest of world (excluding the below): £6.00 per order
  • Delivery to all regions of Africa (sent with FedEx): £50.00 per order
  • Delivery to all regions of South America with value of £100 or equivalent (sent with FedEx): £50.00 per order

Please note, if you are making a purchase from our website from outside of the UK our prices will be adjusted at the checkout to remove any VAT included in our prices. You may be charged Import VAT and Customs Duty when your parcel arrives in your country for delivery. It is the recipients responsibility to pay these fees due. These rates are set by your local government not by Bothy Threads. We have no control over these charges.


If you are unhappy with any items you have purchased directly from us you can return the item unopened and in a saleable condition within 28 days for a full refund (excluding postage).

The buyer is responsible for paying the postage (and duties if posting back from outside the UK) for any items returned and we cannot accept responsibility should your return items go missing in the post. All returns should be accompanied by a covering letter or the original invoice.

If the return is due to an error made by Bothy Threads we will refund the returns postage in full.
