Angie Spurgeon
Angie Spurgeon is an illustrator and designer based in Somerset
near the beautiful Quantock Hills. Her art is inspired by nature with a
signature style that mixes wildlife with traditional countryside and coastal
themes, and a hand-drawn playfulness.
Qualified
with a degree in Illustration and 15 years freelance experience, she designs
primarily for the paper goods, home decor and craft sectors. Her collections
include a range of ‘British Nature Guides’ greetings cards, which can be found
in shops across the UK including branches of National Trust, Waterstones and
Woodland Trust. Working closely with RNLI, she has also created sets of
coastal illustrations to feature in their annual calendar called ‘Two of Us’.
At the heart
of all her designs is the simple act of line drawing because that is her
favourite thing to do. From the creative studio corner built by her
husband in the home they share with their two daughters, over the years she has
produced hundreds of designs for licensing, branding and own brand paper
products that she sells directly through her Etsy and Folksy shops under the
name Artwork By Angie.
For Angie, it’s all about raising a smile and putting some joy and colour back into the world. If her designs also inspire others to enjoy creating and making with their hands, that’s wonderful and is why she is delighted to be a Bothy Threads Artist.
